SMCC maintains two major types of networks: internal and Internet-only. College owned equipment is placed on internal networks and have access to internal resources not shared with the public Internet. At times it may be necessary for faculty or staff to access internal resources from off-campus or from Internet-only networks. The preferred method of accessing College resources while off-campus is by using Citrix. Every attempt will be made to provide access via Citrix and only in cases where this is impossible will VPN access be granted.
The FortiClient app is installed by IT and allows connection to internal systems. This level of access requires the employee apply for, and justify, need to a supervisor and have approval from IT.
