Overview
All employees at SMCC are required to log in using more secure methods. This article will help you get set up with these more secure methods, called Multi-Factor Authentication or MFA for short.

Configure More MFA Methods
To add verification methods to your account, go to myprofile.microsoft.com. Find the Security Info box, then click Update Info.
Note: If the page you see when you log in does not look like this, you may have logged in to a personal Microsoft account. Log out and sign in again, being sure to choose Work or School account, or use a private browsing window.
Note: You might notice that the email address displayed on this page is incorrect - it might be username@smccme.onmicrosoft.com. This is a quirk with our setup but doesn't affect anything. Not everyone will see this.
On this page, you'll see a range of options for verifying your identity. If you've already configured methods for Self Service Password Reset, you'll see them here.
To add more, click +Add Method in the upper left corner.
You can choose which method you want to be prompted for by default.
SMCC IT highly recommends the Microsoft Authenticator app, but you may use SMS (text) authentication, or you may request a physical token via the standard login issue form.
Set up the Authenticator App
The Microsoft Authenticator app is a convenient way to verify your identity. To get started using it, use your mobile device to download it from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). The app is not available for desktop computers.
The correct app should come up as the first result on either store, but you should verify that the publisher is "Microsoft Corporation".
Get Authenticator from the Google Play Store
Get Authenticator from the Apple App Store
Once you have it installed, go back to the My Profile screen on your computer and click Set up Authenticator app. You'll be shown a special QR code. Open the Authenticator app on your mobile device, click the + in the top right, then choose Work or School account. You might get a prompt to grant access to the camera, allow it. Use the camera to scan the displayed QR code.
If the scan is successful, your app should display a six digit code. Back on your computer, click Next on the setup screen. You will be asked to verify your mobile device by responding to a test MFA verification. Accept the prompt on your phone, and the setup will complete.
